About The Position

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is offering $2500 in relocation to TRADE Experienced new hires that live 50 miles or greater from Newport News, VA, and a $2,500 sign-on bonus is eligible for candidates with a current active security clearance.

Candidate works to extreme details under direct surveillance of company and customer representatives. Job requires individual and team participation on varied shift schedules and overtime working on ships and in shop areas. Applicant must pass qualifications including health exams, classroom, practical examinations, on- the job and complicated refueling training . Job involves exposure to radiation, accessing heights and confined spaces, and must be capable of obtaining a security clearance,Must Have

Requirements

• Must have an active confidential or higher security clearance.
• Candidates must able to work at extreme heights or small confined spaces.
• Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs and must take and pass a respirator fit test.
• Must be able to work indoors/outdoors year round in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to work assigned shift as production needs.
• Must be able to pass a Physical Agility Test.
• Candidates must be able to successfully complete radiation and mobile equipment operator physicals.
• Candidate must be able to successfully complete radiological training.
• Qualified candidates must have one (1) or more years experience as a machinist, machinist mate, mechanic/automotive repairman, engine man, heavy equipment repairman or similar experience.

Nice To Haves

• Mechanical background preferred, and high school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of a technical/vocational program in Machining, Diesel Technology, Automotive Technology, HVAC, or Mechanical Maintenance.
