About The Position

Perdue Farms is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to support operations in Dillon, South Carolina. The role involves maintaining and repairing refrigeration, boiler, and compressed air equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and operating various refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC systems and be flexible to work rotating shifts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or Technical School certification or relevant training.
  • 2-4 years of experience in refrigeration, boiler operations, and compressed air systems.
  • Must pass operator certifications CARO and/or CIRO.
  • Ability to read and use dial gauges, micrometers, etc. for alignment of motors and pumps.
  • Experience in ammonia or Freon refrigeration and HVAC with certification R22 and R410.

  • Reading and analytical skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Pass a physical, pulmonary test, SCBA fit test and meet the requirement for a HAZMAT Team Member annually.
  • Use personal protective equipment properly when required by federal, state or company policies, requirements, or procedure.
  • Comply with all federal, state and company safety requirements.
  • Operate all refrigeration systems in the plant, including area temperature, ice production, and water temperatures.
  • Perform operational procedures such as rounds, oil draining, oil adding, and posting all logs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using department personal computers and software.
  • Conduct emergency shutdowns, startups, resets, and restart failed equipment to bring systems back online.
  • Be trained on all refrigeration SOPs.
  • Understand and demonstrate the relationship between pressure and temperature in a refrigeration system and refrigerant expansion with pressure temperature variables.
  • Understand heat transfer in a refrigeration system.
  • Perform all PM procedures in refrigeration.
  • Conduct maintenance activities on augers, including bearing and belt replacement, and coupling alignment.
  • Perform opening procedures and be qualified to receive or transfer ammonia in all plant systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on ammonia compressors, air compressors, ammonia liquid pumps, ammonia system controls, air system controls, air system drying equipment, and refrigeration system condensers.
  • Direct and train operators and perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
  • Meet all Senior Refrigeration Technician requirements prior to promotion from Technician.
