About The Position

The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and repairing ammonia industrial refrigeration systems to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.

Requirements

  • 18 years or older; authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ammonia Refrigeration Certification
  • 1+ year of industrial maintenance experience
  • Welding experience
  • Ability to read blueprints and use hand, power, and precision measuring tools
  • Ability to work in varied environments (hot, cold, wet, humid, elevated areas)
  • Ability to work overtime and extended hours as production requires
  • Ability to complete required safety and food compliance training (SQF, GMP, HACCP, SOPs, Food Defense)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work safely, wear PPE, and follow all safety and food quality standards
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must provide own basic tools
  • You should be proficient in: HVAC/R Systems, Mechanical Troubleshooting Skills, Commercial Electrical Expertise, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification, HVAC Service & Installation, HVAC Maintenance, HVAC Troubleshooting, HVAC Repair, Conduit Pulling, Boiler Certification, Boiler Troubleshooting, Boiler Operation, Maintenance and Repair Skills, Industrial Electrical Experience

Nice To Haves

  • Refrigeration or maintenance experience in a USDA-inspected beef, pork, or poultry facility
  • Consistent work history within the past 12 months

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on ammonia refrigeration systems
  • Monitor and record daily refrigeration system performance
  • Conduct visual inspections of freezers, coolers, evaporators, fans, ice buildup, and drains
  • Adjust compressor pressures and temperatures as needed
  • Monitor ammonia levels in accumulators and high-pressure vessels
  • Follow lockout/tagout and all safety procedures
  • Perform other related duties as required
