About The Position

Tessera is seeking a skilled and efficientn Refrigeration Mechanic (Food Service Equipment Mechanic) with a professional attitude. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Install, perform preventative maintenance, and repair a wide variety of commercial kitchen equipment. Appliances include walk-in refrigerators, freezers, cold bars, dishwashers, conveyors, commercial food disposers, oven ranges, deep fryers, grills, steamers, kettles, mixers, and various other types of appliances. Add or remove refrigerant fluids when necessary. Start system, observe operation, read gauges and instruments, and adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system. Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components. Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems. Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on appliances. Calibrate equipment when necessary. Utilize hand tools, test equipment, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s specification manuals to perform duties. Examine appliances during operating cycle to detect excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks and loose parts, and disassembles appliances and examines mechanical and electrical parts. Trace electrical circuits to locate shorts and grounds to adjust contact points and clean parts. Replace worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers and defective wiring, repairs and adjusts appliance motors, reassembles appliance, adjusts pulleys, and lubricates moving parts, using hand tools, and lubricating equipment. Test water pressure and locate leaks. Prepare and maintains related reports, records, and requisitions as required. Assists in the inventory of equipment, tools, and parts. Responsible for the proper handling, maintenance, use, and accountability of all equipment, tools, and parts to which assigned. Adheres to all safety standards. Maintain professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.

Requirements

  • Communicate with others in a courteous and helpful way.
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend applicable written and/or oral instructions.
  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task throughout workday (computer-based program), with constant interruptions.
  • Journeyman or Master level HVACR required
  • 5 years related experience and/or training in maintenance and repair of commercial kitchen equipment, including refrigeration equipment.
  • Valid State Driver’s license required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance company.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances as background checks will be conducted for this position.
  • Access to this federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
