About The Position
Lopez Foods in Cherokee, IA is searching for candidates that have maintenance and or HVAC experience that is interested in getting trained and paid to become a Utility Refrigeration Technician! This position requires an organized individual, who is self-motivated and can work independently and perform assigned tasks efficiently with minimum supervision. The purpose of Utility Refrigeration Technician is to maintain, diagnose, repair, rebuild, adjust, perform preventive maintenance and install equipment within and around the facility to keep the production operational and have zero loss of production. This individual will perform the duties of a Refrigeration Technician and assist other maintenance personnel on his/her shift and will be responsible for all necessary paperwork and documentation as they relate to the job. Make rounds keep logs of daily operations and events for the engine room and refrigeration equipment throughout the facility. Maintain and troubleshooting of ammonia refrigeration compressors, condensers, pumps, vessels / recirculators, purgers, evaporators / RMAU’s, heat exchangers, and control valves / isolation valves while using the Original Equipment Manufacturer’s guidelines. Pass a physical, pulmonary test, respirator fit test and meet the requirements for Haz-Mat team (Must be able to wear a Level A chemical suit) on an annual basis. Perform Line & Equipment Opening procedures. Obtain RETA 1 and 2 Certificates within 2 years Obtain boiler certification.
Requirements
- Maintenance Technicians or candidates with extensive maintenance experience, HVAC or electrical experience interested in working in refrigeration maintenance are encouraged to apply
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and strong reading, math, writing, analytical, skills required.
- Experience with Air Compressor‘s and Air dryers
- Electrical experience and troubleshooting in low and high voltage circuits, motors, and controls.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work in -40 to 100+ degree temperatures
- Must not be afraid of heights
- Must be highly safety conscious
- Ability to lift in-excess of 50lbs.
- Ability to work in cold, wet and humid environments
