About The Position

Requirements

  • Two or more years of journey-level refrigeration mechanic experience in the maintenance and repair of major air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial/academic building repair.
  • Experience repairing and maintaining food service equipment.
  • Successfully completed an HVAC/Refrigeration course of study through a technical or community college.
  • Basic computer skills for interacting with Maintenance Management systems and Outlook email.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of refrigeration equipment and air-conditioning.
  • Knowledge of safety and accident prevention measures and practices.
  • Skill in using tools and machinery connected with repair of refrigeration equipment and air-conditioning.
  • Ability to read blueprints, write specifications, and estimate material and labor costs.
  • Training and experience in a variety of sub-journeyman trade-level skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled maintenance work on buildings and internal systems including plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
  • Respond to unpredictable and emergency situations as they arise.
  • Ensure compliance with MPCA and EPA regulations for refrigerant handling and recovery procedures.
  • Create a safe and healthy environment for students, staff, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Participate in the on-call schedule for emergency situations.
