Requirements

High school diploma or GED required; two-year degree in a specialized maintenance trade preferred.
5+ years of related refrigeration maintenance experience with advanced electrical and mechanical skills, strongly preferred in an ammonia refrigeration environment.
Ability to safely don and operate air-purifying respirators (APR) and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA); HAZMAT certification preferred. (CIRO is a big plus!)
Must be able to obtain forklift and boiler licenses as required for job functions.
Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and be committed to following all company and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
10 or more years of ammonia refrigeration experience.

Responsibilities

Conduct daily inspections and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration systems including air conditioners, compressors, evaporators, and boilers to ensure optimal functionality and safety compliance.
Troubleshoot and repair complex refrigeration equipment issues such as ammonia compressors, CO2 and freezer temperature monitors, and electrical components including I/O modules, ensuring minimal downtime.
Potentially help manage refrigeration parts inventory; order necessary components and maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed.
Lead setup, teardown, fabrication, and installation of plant equipment, supporting major repairs and construction projects related to stationary machinery and building infrastructure.
Adhere to strict safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, and Fall Protection, and actively participate in Hazmat training and emergency response teams.
