Stellar is seeking a Refrigeration Engineer to design refrigeration systems using the Design-Build delivery method and to be responsible for all aspects of assigned design projects. This role requires making technical decisions and directing the refrigeration scope of work for each project. Under the supervision of the Director of Engineering, the Refrigeration Engineer will work within the Industrial Refrigeration division on Food & Beverage projects across the United States.

  • Designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing refrigeration systems and equipment, including selecting the most appropriate and economical refrigeration system for each project
  • Developing initial outline scopes of work, block flow diagrams, PFDs, P&IDs, preliminary equipment selections, and technical reports
  • Preparing project specifications
  • Managing project-level design technical decisions
  • Conducting site visits to inspect installation quality and completion status
  • Delegating and/or reviewing equipment schedules, control group designs, final line sizing, and mass & energy balances
  • Overseeing completion of engineering tasks, accuracy of drawing packages/Revit models, and adhering to assigned work schedules
  • Supervising production work performed by Refrigeration Designers
  • Reviewing all technical aspects of refrigeration submittals
  • Coordinating with other disciplines - especially HVAC
  • Creating, editing, reviewing, and issuing drawings or redline markups
  • Conducting Process Safety Management and Process Hazard Analysis studies
  • Ensuring compliance with code changes and Stellar engineering standards
  • Participating in industry organizations such as IIAR and ARF
  • Providing presentations internally and externally
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex projects
  • Over 10 years of industrial refrigeration engineering experience
  • Experience designing with NH3, Glycol, Freon, CO2
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • PE licensure is highly valued
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to contribute effectively as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
