HFA, has an opportunity for an Refrigeration Engineer or Designer to support the development of a growing refrigeration program within the firm. Ideal candidates will have an established technical knowledge in commercial DX refrigeration design (as well as designing low-temp and medium-temp secondary systems), be highly proficient in REVIT, and confident and comfortable meeting face-to-face with clients. HFA can hire an individual to work remotely in the continental US for this position. Knowledge of transcritical CO2 systems is a plus. This position involves: developing construction documentation, technical design, providing design input/feedback to lesser experienced refrigeration designers, coordination with other professional disciplines in-house and out-of-house, and this person must have the ability to work in a collaborative team environment. The tasks you'll perform include but not limited to: Creating design development and construction documents using REVIT. Meet with clients, face-to-face and virtually, to formulate solutions and build relationships, a shared company value. Site visits as needed to obtain design information and/or construction administration. So, some travel is required. Coordinate with other design disciplines, vendors (equipment suppliers), and clients to execute work plans and gain industry knowledge. Analyzing and selecting equipment as required. Troubleshooting and coming up w/ design solutions. More detail below: Designer will work with Engineer and/or Design Lead to communicate with client, deliver completed construction documents, and assist in construction administration as required for most project types. Designer should utilize education and experience to independently develop, implement, and draft construction documents for most project and/or project type (or at least major portions), as well as solve medium to difficult design challenges that arise on a project or simple projects. Designer should have a good working knowledge of DX refrigeration system utilizing traditional refrigerants and a basic knowledge of transcritical CO2 systems. Additional refrigeration systems that may be helpful are 2-stage systems, cascade systems, and ammonia systems. Designer should have a basic knowledge of standard control systems used in commercial refrigeration. Designer should be able to apply their knowledge gained through experience and knowledge of recognized national standards to simple projects, with minimal oversight from Engineer or Design Lead. Designer should have a good knowledge of software assisting programs and be able to apply throughout the design process. Designer should have an understanding of energy codes and how it impacts design. Designer should be able to design and draft refrigeration systems, including creating isometric plans for small to medium projects.
