Environmental Manager POSITION SUMMARY: This position will lead one of two sub-teams of Environmental Professionals at the Garyville Refinery and will report to the overall Garyville Environmental Manager. The primary functions of this position will be to supervise an Environmental team, oversee compliance management systems, manage group resources, and provide Environmental leadership at the site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Health, Environmental, Safety related field, Engineering, or an advanced degree.
  • Minimum 8-years environmental experience within the refining, chemical, or petrochemical industry is required.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to build a cohesive, highly functioning team
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with external stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Champion a culture defined by high performance, collaboration, continuous learning, and service.
  • Identify and optimize compliance options within new and existing permits and regulations to maximize operational flexibility.
  • Ensure appropriate authorization mechanisms are applied to any activities classified as modifications under NSR permitting regulations.
  • Support the goal of 100% compliance through clear regulatory guidance, diligent oversight, and development of enhanced tools and systems.
  • Ensure clear, timely, and proactive communication of compliance data to site teams and leadership.
  • Lead periodic self-audits of environmental programs to proactively identify and correct issues.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all reports and administrative responsibilities (e.g., agency reports, controlled documents, incident follow-up).
  • Act as a liaison between the refinery and regulatory agencies such as LDEQ and EPA.
  • Cultivate trusted relationships and communicate environmental information to local community members and leaders.
  • Promote program ownership and generation of quality data within the group.
