About The Position

QUALIFICATIONS Required : Previous medical office experience functioning as a Certified Medical Assistant, Experience as an Oregon Certified Pharmacy Technician, or Experience as a Certified EMT. Knowledge of medical terminology, knowledge of medication refill processes and computer experience. Positive, cheerful attitude and good communication skills. Self-started, who is a flexible and caring individual. Demonstrates accuracy in documentation. Excellent telephone skills. Able to work in a fast paced, often stressful environment, with ability to perform within standard turnaround times for task completion. Must maintain strict confidentiality of patient information. Preferred : Preferred -CMA--American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)/RMA--American Medical Technologists (AMT) CCMA--National Health Career Association (NHA)/NCMA--National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Oregon Certified Pharmacy Technician, Certified EMT TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS Medium physical/mental demands as needed in the completion of duties. Able to follow instructions and accept direction. Must be able to work independently, as well as with medical providers, patients, family members and other co-workers. Must be able to prioritize work demands and organize time efficiently. Must be able to work in multi-specialty settings. Must have the ability to work within time constraints, in high stress situations and with multiple tasks. Must be able to remain calm under stress. Excellent problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and processes refill requests both electronically and by phone.
  • Researches patient’s active medications and appointment history
  • Schedules patients following appropriate protocols
  • Follows medication refill protocols to ensure appropriate monitoring of medications
  • Communicates relevant information to providers to assist with medication refills in person and through EMR
  • Communicates information regarding refills to patients
  • Updates patient information and pharmacy preference in medical record
  • Convey a warm, caring environment for patients and staff
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptive to different situations with regards to patients, medical providers and co-workers
  • Maintain competency in all position responsibilitie.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
