About The Position

This position is based within Jones-Dunklin Cancer Center. In this unique setting, daily interactions with a diverse clientele, including hospital staff, physicians, and visitors, are expected. A referral specialist within Practice Network is responsible for scheduling incoming referrals, outgoing referrals, or both. This role will work closely with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to facilitate referrals, manage authorizations, and track progress of the referral process.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of insurance.
• Technical Diploma in healthcare related field preferred.
• Associate Degree in healthcare administration, medical assisting, or other related field preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in healthcare or other related field preferred.
• 1-year experience in an exact or similar role preferred.
• Understanding of medical terminology, insurance processes, and referral procedures preferred.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and other medical software preferred.
• Advanced computer, phone, and email skills including experience with MS office products.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to listen actively and convey information in a stressful situation with tact and compassion.
