About The Position

This position leads and supervises referral management activities, including but not limited to appointment scheduling, registration and communications between patients, physicians and the practice plan assuring the highest standards of customer services. Leads implementation of referral services processes, staffing models and technology that support business objectives and improvement efficiencies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 years of Referral Specialist experience
  • Approved medical terminology certification or med term course completion

Responsibilities

  • Receives and tracks patient referrals including working with other specialties to confirm patient visits, as well as investigates any incomplete referrals for timely processing
  • Works with clinical staff to ensure a timely and appropriate appointment is scheduled
  • Obtains authorizations required for patient visits, procedure, surgeries and medication to be approved by payers
  • Reviews and addresses messages related to patient referrals to allow for timely scheduling of visits
  • Develops and maintains an effective and accurate filing system for the department
  • Identifies and routes patient appointment information to the correct recipient via computer database and/or telephone calls
  • Collaborate with training and QA to support the development needs of Referral Management Services Specialists
  • Participates in the design and leads implementation of referral services processes, staffing models and technology that support business objectives and improvement efficiencies
  • Maintains overall patient experience and safety, following all emergency clinical policies and protocols, to allow for optimal experience of care
