About The Position

As a Referral Queue Scheduler , you’ll play a key role in ensuring patients are scheduled efficiently across our cardiology clinics. This role works from scheduling queues, referral queues, staff messages, and MyChart requests to arrange timely patient appointments. You’ll collaborate closely with schedulers, clinical staff, and the Referral Queue team to attach referrals, schedule procedures and consults, coordinate interpreting services, and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR. This position is remote once training is completed, and contributes directly to reducing care delays and improving the patient experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 6+ months of related medical office or scheduling experience preferred
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed written and verbal instructions
  • Basic computer proficiency (EMR, Outlook, phone systems, faxing, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Epic or other EMR scheduling systems
  • Familiarity with referral, inbasket, or MyChart workflows
  • High attention to detail and organized work style
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Responsibilities

  • Schedule cardiology testing and appointments for PHI/CSC clinics
  • Call and schedule patients from: Inbasket/Staff Messages, MyChart requests, Referral queue routing to PHI/CSC
  • Attach Epic referrals to scheduled appointments
  • Reschedule appointments as requested
  • Ensure referral requirements are met (insurance changes, walk-ins, etc.)
  • Arrange interpreting services per protocol
  • Work in conjunction with the Referral Queue team (mutual backup coverage)
  • Support the appointment desk as needed
  • May be asked to assist on-site occasionally after the remote transition
  • Expected to maintain scheduling volume of 45–55+ referrals / inbaskets / MyChart requests daily
