About The Position

This position will work with Iowa Donor Network hospital partners to remotely manage triage and initial clinical evaluation for organ, eye, and tissue donation opportunities.  Daily activities include collaboration with donor hospital staff, medical examiners, and other essential stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A combination of education and equivalent field experience in a clinical setting (i.e., Licensed RN, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, or another applicable field.)
  • Two-year degree or equivalent experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with sensitive information and respond in a timely manner.
  • Exceptional ability to review medical information and communicate efficiently across multiple channels.
  • Strong ability to navigate multiple software systems, programs, and communication tools daily.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse audience.
  • Requires the use of an IDN issued phone and physical ethernet cable connection from the wall of the home to the workstation.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Maintain availability for communication 24/7/365.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with organ, tissue, or eye donation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the donation process by triaging the medical evaluation of all vented and non-vented referrals.
  • Complete an effective medical evaluation of eye referrals.
  • Provide the Organ Resource Supervisor with a thorough organ chart review for donor suitability, determination, and medical management
  • Collaborate with the Referral Response Coordinator to manage updates in changing medical information.
  • Ensure effective verbal and written communication and collaboration with hospital staff, physicians, related donation agencies, and other Iowa Donor Network team members to maximize organ and tissue donation.
  • Participate in process improvement and quality assurance activities.
  • Record and submit referral and case data for process improvement analysis and industry standards.
