About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our centralized referral team at our corporate office. This role is essential in ensuring patients receive timely and appropriate specialty care by coordinating referrals from our primary care providers. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of insurance requirements and referral processes, along with a commitment to excellent patient service.

Requirements

Previous experience in referrals, care coordination, or medical office setting required
Strong knowledge of insurance plans, authorizations, and referral processes required
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
Minimum 1-3 years experience in a medical office preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent
Customer service
Oral and Written communication skills
Knowledge of medical terminology
Data entry skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

Process and manage referrals from primary care providers to specialists and ancillary services
Verify insurance coverage and ensure referral requirements are met prior to scheduling
Obtain prior authorizations when required
Communicate with patients, providers, and specialty offices to coordinate care
Track referral status and follow up to ensure completion
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the system
Ensure compliance with all HIPAA and organizational policies
