About The Position

This position provides care coordination for MedCura Health multi-disciplinary clinicians serving homeless, sliding-fee scale, uninsured, and other marginalized patients including information for scheduling and managing referrals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years in a medical office as a Medical Assistant or Medical Coder.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a customer service position.
  • Knowledge of medical office patient processing.
  • Knowledge of current procedural terminology, ICD-10 coding, and other related billing policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills.
  • Excellent phone etiquette.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a cohesive and innovative clinical support team to provide support for medical providers and link under-served patients with needed medical referrals.
  • Follow-up with patients, including reminding them of referral appointments, addressing barriers, and providing support throughout the entire referral process.
  • Faxing, mailing and processing of referral requests and supporting documentation.
  • Run queries and monitor clinical inboxes to track referral progress/completion.
  • Research local providers and medical services, establishing new contacts and resources for patients.
  • Initiate and maintain communication between practice and other medical providers from the local medical and specialty medicine community.
  • Act as a liaison between practice and other health care providers and facilities.
  • Assist in training and supervision of clinic support staff for the referrals program.
  • Work with Nurse Manager to solve referral problems and to streamline processes to increase efficiency.
  • Ensure all required referral, prescription refill and precertification’s forms are accurate and complete prior to processing.
  • Participate in compliance, quality assurance and quality improvement activities as directed by supervisor.
