About The Position

The Referral Clerk in Centralized Services is responsible for managing the referral process for patients. This includes answering phone calls promptly, using excellent phone etiquette, and coordinating referrals to appropriate clinics. The role requires effective communication with patients to ensure follow-through with referrals and support for doctors and patients in synchronizing appointments, authorizations, and tests across different clinics. The clerk must ensure that insurances are compatible with referrals and organize work lists to triage patients correctly. The position also involves working quickly in the software system to handle requests, setting goals with the Administrator to meet referral demands, and maintaining confidentiality while upholding policies. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of computer input required.
  • Ability to perform basic clerical functions.
  • Comprehension of medical terminology required.
  • Good spelling and number skills required.
  • Clear and concise voice required.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phone calls within 3 rings using excellent phone etiquette.
  • Coordinate the referral process for patients to appropriate clinics.
  • Communicate with patients to ensure follow-through with referrals.
  • Support synchronization of appointments, authorizations, and tests.
  • Ensure insurance compatibility with referrals.
  • Organize work lists for correct triage of patients.
  • Handle multiple doctor requests in a timely manner.
  • Work efficiently in the software system to manage requests.
  • Set goals with the Administrator to meet referral demands.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold policies.
  • Keep work area neat and clear of clutter.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
