FTE: 1.0 Shift: Day Schedule: 8am-4:30pm Monday - Friday Position Summary The Referral Auth Coordinator is responsible for expediting the administrative requirements of patient referrals between participating providers and patient health plans. This position also serves as liaison between medical providers and injured workers for coordination and expertise regarding case treatment plan, outcome, and problem areas, and makes recommendations to facilitate case management goals.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Two (2) years of customer experience in admitting, billing, or registration in a medical or insurance setting
Nice To Haves
- One (1) year of post high school business or college course work preferred
- Experience with CPT and ICD coding in managed care preferred
Responsibilities
- Communicates with company contacts regarding workers compensation and occupational medicine needs while responding to calls from employers, providers, and staff members
- Gathers necessary clinical information to process referrals, pre-certifications, pre-determinations, or prior authorizations according to insurance plan requirements
- Logs, tracks and reviews managed care approvals and denials
- Verifies insurance coverage and benefits, and creates price estimates and reverifications as needed
- Schedules and pre-registers patients for appointments
