About The Position

The Redding Elementary School is seeking a Recess Supervisor to oversee students during recess and ensure their safety and appropriate behavior. This position is part of the support staff and is scheduled for 10 months, working 3.75 hours per day for 167 days of the school year. The working hours are from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., and the start date is immediate. The salary will be in accordance with the non-certified staff bargaining unit contract agreement, but no benefits are offered.

Requirements

• High School diploma or its equivalent
• Experience working with young children
• Sensitivity to the needs of young children
• Fundamental understanding of the developmental needs of young children
• Basic CPR training a plus

Responsibilities

• Supervising students (Grade 1 - Grade 4) on the playground and/or in a classroom setting for safety and appropriate behavior
• Helping students resolve minor conflicts with their peers
• Observing student behavior
• Consistently circulating the playground area (or classroom) to observe student interaction
• Preparation of written disciplinary report for administration, when required
• Delivery of items dropped off for students by parents to the applicable classrooms, including bus notes or other dismissal notes
