The Red Dragons Read Internship offers students the opportunity to manage a campus wide initiative that offers free books to students as a chance to take a break from screens and enjoy recreational reading. Learn more about the RDR initiative here. This internship offers skills in project management, social media management and content creation, professional writing, event planning, and advertising. In addition, the internship can be tailored to focus on skills in student engagement, mental health and wellness, academic success, and/or sustainability as desired. Primary Responsibilities: (note: Focus is flexible so responsibilities may vary) Project Management o Maintaining bookcase inventory o Organizing bookcase inventory & display aesthetics o Branding: Apply stickers to newly donated books Social Media Management & Content Creation o Manage Red Dragons Read social media account o Create social media content o Audience engagement Professional Writing - Advertising o Outreach: Advertising emails & Social Media Content o Newsletter/Blog articles Event Planning o Plan and execute 1 event during the semester The event type is up to the intern and can focus on any of the listed skills: student engagement, mental health and wellness, academic success, and/or sustainability Workload: This internship will entail on average 3 hours per week over 15 weeks. Weekly Tasks o Check each bookcase at least once per week o Organize books in storage and refill inventory on bookcases o Create content for social media (e.g., TikTok, Intagram) o Progress on event planning o Submit a reflection each week of tasks accomplished and progress on event planning Semester Tasks o Plan and host an event that involves the Red Dragons Read campus initiative o Submit an event report
