About The Position

The Recycling Specialist is responsible for managing all recyclable materials generated within warehouse operations, ensuring accurate tracking, proper handling, and timely movement of materials to designated recycling streams. This role protects data integrity, supports compliance requirements, and maintains clean, organized recycling zones. The specialist works closely with inventory control, raw materials, finished goods, quality, and logistics teams to prevent accumulation issues, reduce waste, and maintain operational discipline across all recycling activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong understanding of material handling, recycling processes, and warehouse workflows.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse management systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in warehouse environments with varying temperatures.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of experience in warehouse operations, recycling programs, or inventory control preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle or MES platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Record, track, and reconcile all recyclable materials including cardboard, plastic, metal, pallets, and production byproducts.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for recycling movements, weight tickets, and disposal records to support audits and compliance.
  • Conduct routine checks of recycling areas to ensure materials are properly sorted, labeled, and staged.
  • Collaborate with the Inventory Control Specialist to validate recycling inventory and ensure alignment with system records.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, and warehouse teams to resolve discrepancies or contamination issues in recycling streams.
  • Prepare recyclable materials for outbound movement, including staging, verification, and communication with recycling vendors or 3PL partners.
  • Support month end and quarter end reporting by providing accurate recycling data and reconciliation details.
  • Maintain audit trails for all recycling adjustments, investigations, and material movements.
  • Identify and report root causes of recycling variances or contamination, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Uphold housekeeping, safety, and compliance standards within all recycling zones.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Inventory Control Specialist or Inventory Control Supervisor.
