About The Position
Adecco is assisting a local Waste Management facility in Portland, ME, in their search for Recycling Sorters. This position is a temporary or temp-to-hire opportunity that offers a competitive pay rate of $20 per hour, with the potential for overtime. The work schedule is set from Monday to Friday, starting at 6:00 AM and ending at 4:00 PM. The primary responsibility of the Recycling Sorter is to sort recycled materials effectively, ensuring that waste is identified and removed from recyclable products. This role requires a strong commitment to job safety and the ability to maintain a high level of productivity while working as part of a team. In addition to sorting, the Recycling Sorter will be expected to perform other duties as assigned, which may vary based on the needs of the facility. The position demands flexibility in scheduling and hours worked, as operational needs may change. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to follow both oral and written instructions, communicate clearly, and establish effective working relationships with colleagues. The role also involves participating in semi-skilled tasks, which include standing for an entire shift and lifting materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Quick and accurate decision-making skills, problem-solving abilities, and a thorough understanding of safety rules and regulations are essential for this position. Additionally, the ability to wear respiratory personal protective equipment (PPE) and recognize machine jams is required.
