About The Position

Atlas is hiring for a 1st Shift Recycle Associate position at our Byron Center location. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include travel requirements) · Ensures all safety requirements are being followed. · Completes required production records. Ensures they are accurate, neat and legible. · Ensures that production and quality standards are achieved. · Monitors and adjusts machine settings to ensure an acceptable product is being produced. · Keeps area clean and orderly at all times; cleans machines as necessary. · Performs all required startup, shutdown and clean up procedures. · Operates densifying machine and forklift. · Correctly follows Grind Procedure. · Ensures all scrap material is properly segregated. · Properly feeds grinders as to not cause them to become jammed. · Ensures trash or any other foreign material does not enter grinders. · Ensures all bags are empty by the end of shift. · Notifies supervisor of any break down of equipment. · Ensures proper amount of material is being densified; utilizes material to reduce waste. · Communicates with Molding department to ensure material is used for best Fitness for Use, is directed correctly for block yield and ensures Molding has enough grind according to schedule. · Helps to ensure walkways, exit rows and fire extinguishers are kept clear. · Works necessary hours as determined by supervisor to complete tasks. · Notifies supervisor of any unsafe conditions and/or acts. · Seeks supervisor for work assignment during downtime. · Responsible for learning the differences in materials used. · Understands and performs lock out/tag out of machine. · Performs outside (SWPPP) clean-up as requested. · Performs other related tasks/projects as requested by supervisor. · Is helpful in training all new employees or transfers from other departments. · Assists and/or works in other departments as requested.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to communicate clearly (both orally and written)
  • Basic math skills with the ability to read tape measure/calipers and to utilize metric scale
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Able to read and interpret any documents
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, searches, etc.
  • Is able to understand density types and distinguish between them
  • Willingness to work with others
