About The Position

Wabtec is seeking a Rectifier Teardown Operator/Assembler to join our team in Columbia, SC. This full-time position is responsible for using a variety of hand and power tools, fixtures, and work instructions to perform a series of operations to correctly disassemble components. The role emphasizes a commitment to quality and reliability, ensuring that customer expectations are met or exceeded in a timely manner. The work environment is on the production shop floor, which may vary in temperature and is subject to exposure to fumes and noise. The shift for this position is Monday to Thursday from 6 am to 4:30 pm.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanics.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Ability to perform the same task repeatedly.

Responsibilities

  • Follow detailed disassembly instructions, processes, and procedures.
  • Disassemble components by utilizing hand and power tools.
  • Clean and buff components.
  • Wash components in solvent and run parts through parts washer.
  • Blowout parts to remove solvent and dirt.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with 5S protocol.
  • Ensure that schedules are being run exactly as they are listed.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  • Turn off equipment when not in use.
  • Pay attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
