About The Position

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Recruitment and Outreach Specialist EOC-NTP-10925 Nature and Scope of Duties The Recruitment and Outreach Specialist reports to the Coordinator of Institutional Advancement and performs the following duties:

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline
  • Experience with educational programs, community agencies, and low-income population
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Initiative and high energy
  • Ability to work independently
  • Available for a flexible schedule including day, evening and possibly weekend hours
  • Ability to work well with others as part of a team
  • Patient, persuasive and congenial personality
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and data management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an enrollment or admissions office preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a recruitment plan which seeks economically and educationally disadvantaged individuals for EOC programs. Recruitment activities include but are not limited to outreach to transition, re-entry, and recovery centers, community agencies, social service agencies, schools, and libraries; agency visitation; and public presentations.
  • Participates in outreach programs which actively work toward the elimination of stereotyping in program enrollment.
  • Provide information and statistical reports on recruitment activities, and uses such information as a basis for making recommendations for changes or modifications to improve recruitment efforts.
  • Coordinates activities with the Enrollment Office and other EOC offices and departments to best meet the enrollment goals of the center.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with students, providing ongoing coaching and mentoring to positively impact student achievement.
  • Conducts intake meetings with incoming and continuing students; provides information on next steps.
  • Maintains positive relationships with administrators, faculty and staff. Disseminates information in a clear, appropriate and timely manner.
  • Performs a wide range of administrative responsibilities including: data entry, record maintenance, and abiding by all laws and regulations around student records.
  • Creates and maintains organized records of student contact and follow up, respecting confidentiality.
  • Completes necessary correspondence and reports using appropriate software and technology as needed.
  • Participates in internal and external organization and community events, providing information in one-on-one, small group and presentation formats.
  • Promotes EOC programs and services and assists in recruitment activities through participation in outreach and promotional events that support program goals and EOC enrollment.
  • Helps build and maintain a positive public image for EOC with the general public, private and non-profit organizations, and educational institutions.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for assigned area; develops a working knowledge of all other areas of Student Services. Assigned areas in Student Support Services may include Enrollment Services, College and Career Services, Testing, or Student Services in general.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
