Now, we’re working to automate company building to the point that we can press a button to launch profitable companies—ventures that can reinvest their own resources to become enterprises that help millions, or even billions, of people. We are seeking a Recruiting & People Partner — a hybrid operator who thrives at the intersection of recruiting and HR. You’ll own both Talent Acquisition and People Operations, building systems that remove friction, accelerate execution, and enable Top Performers to produce Alpha across Mechanism and our portfolio. This is not your average HR/Talent Coordinator gig. We’re looking for someone who hunts for impact, not waiting for direction, and drives outcomes that change the slope of the system. You recognize what needs to be built, take ownership immediately, and execute efficiently and quickly. This role requires grit, ownership, and an obsession with impact. You’ll partner directly with founders, executives, and team leads to elevate our talent bar and build the infrastructure that keeps Mechanism operating at peak performance. Requirements

  • 4+ years in a talent-focused role — hands-on experience sourcing, recruiting, and closing top performers across multiple functions (growth marketing, operations, product).
  • 2+ years in an HR or People Operations role — directly supporting onboarding, compliance, documentation, and systems that enable teams to move fast and stay aligned.
  • Proven success recruiting in high-velocity, high-bar environments (startups, venture studios, or high-growth teams).
  • Strong grasp of HR systems, compliance, and automation tools; experience creating or improving internal workflows.
  • Operates with high agency and velocity — moves first, executes cleanly, and iterates fast.
  • Exceptional written communication — async clarity, precision, and context-rich updates.
  • Analytical and data-driven approach to decisions; comfortable using metrics to diagnose and improve systems.
  • Thrives in autonomy and ambiguity; creates clarity instead of waiting for it.
  • Grit, resourcefulness, and follow-through — finds ways to win regardless of constraints.
  • Experience with ATS & HR tools (bonus for Lattice & Ashby).
  • Priority will be given to SHRM certificate holders.

Responsibilities

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for Mechanism HQ and portfolio companies — from sourcing through offer close.
  • Build high-signal pipelines for growth, product, and operations roles.
  • Partner with hiring managers to anticipate hiring needs and shape role definitions.
  • Engineer a high-velocity, high-touch candidate experience; every interaction should reflect our brand and standards.
  • Leverage data (response rates, conversion, speed-to-hire) to continuously improve recruiting systems.
  • Own ATS functions (Pinpoint or Ashby), including job postings, pipelines, and reporting.
  • Develop scalable, repeatable recruiting processes across companies at different stages.
  • Partner with our HR manager to support HR functions: onboarding, offboarding, compliance, employee records, and process automation.
  • Partner with leadership to design and roll out people systems that support Top Performer identification and retention.
  • Build automations and workflows to improve speed and accuracy across HR operations.
  • Support performance management cycles (e.g., eNPS, Accelerant/Drag surveys, Top Performer verification, performance reviews, etc.).
  • Maintain documentation and policies that support a high-trust, high-velocity culture.
