About The Position

The Recreational Therapist at Franciscan Health provides a balance of therapeutic activities to develop, restore, or improve psychosocial functional abilities. This position utilizes treatment programs such as didactic groups, skill training, health and fitness, experiential groups, insight-oriented groups, leisure education, out-trips to the community, crafts, and workshops, and a variety of recreational activities. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Recognize and adapt teaching and counseling appropriate to the patients' level of comprehension. Document patient care information, and ensure timely and accurate completion of patient care records. Prepare and submit reports and charts to the treatment team, for analysis of patient trends. Obtain information from medical records, medical staff, family members, and patients to assess patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Implement basic recreational therapeutic skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Relevant Field of Study
  • 1 year Social Services/Therapeutic recreation/Leisure
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) - National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) - American Heart Association
