About The Position

Covenant Case Management Services is seeking a licensed or state-certified Recreational Therapist with experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities who have long-term intervention needs. In this role, you will provide expertise, training, and technical assistance to family members, support staff, and natural supports; participate as part of the Individual Support Team; and provide tele-consultation for participants with extreme or complex medical, behavioral, or psychiatric needs. You will train caregivers to implement therapeutic interventions aligned with the Individual Support Plan (ISP) to enhance treatment efficacy.

Requirements

  • Some experience working with I/DD, Autism Disorder, and/or TBI preferred.
  • Familiarity with NC Innovations Waiver preferred but not required.
  • Ability to complete Enrollment/Credentialing Process for MCO with agency assistance.
  • Qualified in the customized need of the participants as described in the ISP.
  • Consistent, reliable access to the internet.
  • Active NPI # and NC Tracks profile with ability to affiliate with agencies.
  • Updated CAQH profile.
  • Understanding of the credentialing process and requirements for working with MCOs.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic interventions within the context of I/DD and related programs.
  • Staff must hold appropriate NC state certification in Recreation Therapy.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Criminal background check presents no health and safety risk to participants.
  • Not listed in the North Carolina Health Care Abuse Registry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise, training, and technical assistance to family members, support staff, and other natural supports assisting participants with developmental disabilities who have long-term intervention needs.
  • Train family members and paid/unpaid caregivers to carry out therapeutic interventions consistent with the ISP, enhancing treatment effectiveness.
  • Participate as an integral part of the Individual Support Team.
  • Attend team meetings and provide additional consultation for participants with extreme or complex medical/behavioral/psychiatric needs.
  • Observing the participant to determine needs.
  • Assessing any current interventions for effectiveness.
  • Developing a written intervention plan clearly delineating interventions, activities, and expected outcomes.
  • Training relevant persons to implement specific interventions, observe, record data, and monitor implementation.
  • Reviewing documentation and evaluating activities conducted by relevant persons, with revision of the plan as needed.
  • Training and technical assistance to relevant persons to instruct them on the implementation of the intervention plan.
  • Participating in team meetings.
  • Tele-consultation through use of two-way, real-time interactive audio and video when distance separates the care from the participant.
  • Additional responsibilities and duties as requested by leadership
