Job Summary: Location: Methodist Hospital Address: 8303 Dodge St, Omaha, NE Schedule: Mon, Tues, Thurs 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Complete assessments and develop individual treatment programs to restore, remediate and rehabilitate a person's level of functioning and independence in life.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in Recreational Therapy required.
  • Satisfactory completion of annual mandatory education requirements.
  • Must have 9 to 12 months clinical experience in acute or long-term care setting.
  • National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS) required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
  • Ability to evaluate, treat, and develop treatment plan components for physically, cognitively and/or mentally impaired adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the customer/patient, to ensure understanding and comfortable level of treatment, as outlined in the Age Specific Criteria.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to customer/patient needs.
  • Provides patient focused treatments to achieve maximum functional improvement.
  • Evaluates the patients rehabilitation and functional needs.
  • Sets goals, and implements treatment plan components established through these findings.
  • Meets patients' recreational therapy needs.
  • Delivers, and when appropriate delegates to other health care team members, therapy services to the patient based on the patient's assessed needs, physician orders, and patient preferences.
  • Contributes to the interdisciplinary care plan.
  • Documents evaluations.
  • Sets and revises goals.
  • Evaluates and documents progress.
  • Participates in patient conferences.
  • Maintains positive relationships with patients and families/significant others, to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Effective interpersonal communication.
  • Involvement of patient and family in treatment goal planning.
  • Achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Supports the patient care team and contributes to the delivery of patient focused care.
  • Exchanges information and coordination of treatment plan components.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with physicians and other health care team members.
  • Contributes to quality improvement.
  • Assists in the development of new clinical programs.
  • Evaluates and revises clinical care processes.
  • Contributes to the delivery of high quality services.
  • Maintains knowledge of current treatment practices by reading appropriate books and journals, giving presentations, and attending approved seminars and conferences.
