Shriners Children's Lexington has an opportunity for a part time Recrational Therapist to join our Child Life/Recreational Therapy team. The Recreational Therapist provides comprehensive, purposeful, developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive family-centered recreation programs. The programs promote and maintain social, emotional, cognitive and physical skill development of the patient while promoting positive attitudes, confidence, and independence; thereby enhancing a child’s ability to lead a fulfilling lifestyle.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree required
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required
• Licensed or eligible to sit for licensure in state of practice (in states where applicable)
• CPR/BLS (per facility policy)
• Valid driver’s license (per facility policy)

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Recreational Therapy preferred
• 1 years Pediatric Recreational Therapy experience preferred

Responsibilities

• As a part of the interdisciplinary team, the Recreational Therapist provides individual therapeutic recreation services and group recreation programs for children and adolescents hospitalized for orthopedic and/or burn surgical intervention or long term rehabilition programs.
• In this position, you'll provide abudnant play and normal life expleriences to promote development, understanding and to alleviate misconceptions to allow an opportunity for positive growth experiences by the patient.
