About The Position

Job Description: The Activities /Music/Recreational Therapist role is designed to provide activities therapy to both residential populations, and therapeutic outings to clients within residential settings. Additionally, the Activities/Recreational Therapist has a responsibility for communicating findings and progress as a member of the treatment team, maintaining regulatory compliance and policy and procedure development for activities. Requirements

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, working knowledge of personal computer, ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to complete required paperwork according to established protocol and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Must be able to maintain professional and appropriate boundaries with clients and families.
  • Ability to act professionally in high stress situations.
  • Must possess high level of knowledge of alternative therapeutic interventions through the use of planned activities.
  • Requires certification in one of the following: Recreation Therapist (CTRS), Art, Music, or Dance Movement Certification.
  • Position requires a valid Colorado driver's license with a good driving record.
  • College degree required.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Passing a background check and drug screen are required to work at Cedar Springs Hospital.
  • Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time.
  • Frequently lifts up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Requires frequent pushing, pulling of heavy loads, kneeling, grasping, stooping and bending
  • Ability to maintain patient and corporate confidentiality
  • Must be able to speak, read and write.
  • Emotional stability necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Vision and hearing sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Requires repetitive use of hands and light lowering of objects
