About The Position

The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for the development and implementation of person-centered programming through planning events and activities for individuals and groups of people participating in MORA services. The Recreation Supervisor will ensure regular communication with clients, volunteers, board members, funders, co-workers and community members while maintaining record keeping of activities and participation. This includes the recreation department, summer programming, and the supervision of staff responsible for effective program implementation. Mount Olivet Rolling Acres - MORA – is a diverse and inclusive nonprofit that has supported adults, seniors and children with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs as well as age-related and chronic medical conditions for over 50 years in the Twin Cities metro. MORA provides an array of services: Adult Day Services, Contracted Case Management, Community Supports, over 30 Residential Homes, Respite, Therapeutic Recreation, Training for Guardians & Families, and a Discover Summer Daytime Programming for Youth with Disabilities. Our Metro Crisis Coordination Program (MCCP) offers a safety net of crucial and cost-effective services for adults and children.

Requirements

  • Must pass Department of Human Services background check and maintain 'qualified' status.
  • Must not be excluded from working in government health programs by the Office Of Inspector General.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the physical job demands document.
  • If using own vehicle for company business, must have a current valid driver’s license and must have insurance as required by state law.

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS degree in the Human Services field or a related field.
  • Three or more years of experience working with persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Proven leadership skills, prefer supervisor experience.
  • Strong creativity, adaptability, and socialization skills, including public relations.
  • Prior experience in planning and implementing activities and events preferred.
  • Flexibility to work when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement programming and person-centered practices to promote skill building and community involvement for individuals receiving MORA services.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with community partners, volunteers, and teams.
  • Interact with individuals and encourage their participation in recreation programming opportunities.
  • Coordinate with various homes, departments, staff, and volunteers to provide effective recreation activities.
  • Manage Special Olympic registration, onboarding, paperwork completion, scheduling, and communications.
  • Assist with coaching during events and competitions.
  • Provide cost effective programming and program operations.
  • Order and ensure availability of program supplies.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of activities.
  • Maintain the Pearson Center, ground surrounding, and the waterfront.
  • Monitor recreation programming to analyze efficiency and effectiveness, implementing changes to maximize effectiveness.
  • Work with director to maintain effective staffing patterns and overall program operation.
  • Carry out supervisory duties including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, scheduling, assigning, delegation, performance feedback, rewarding, coaching, discipline, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Provide support to individuals in a way that promotes dignity and respect.
  • Serve as an ambassador for MORA functions and community involvement.
  • Recruit, retain and create a network of volunteers that best suit client needs and interests in program delivery.
  • Utilize technology to process timely communication of recreational updates to MORA staff, clients, and constituents.
  • Maintain and update the SharePoint Recreation site.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to meet recreation and MORA goals.
  • Maintain waterfront by coordinating boat, dock, and maintenance services.
  • Support MORA’s mission and values and takes an active leadership role in implementation of organization goals and objectives.
  • Drive to/from and accompany clients at community activities using a company or personal vehicle during all hours of operation.
  • Work harmoniously with and show respect to all internal and external individuals.
  • Read and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the team to complete other duties as assigned or as needed.
