The City of Plano's Parks & Recreation department is a 26-year CAPRA accredited agency and five-time NRPA Gold Medal Award-winning department, providing excellent leisure and recreational opportunities to a vibrant and diverse population of 290,000 North Texans. Growth opportunities abound as the Parks and Recreation Department manages four recreation centers, a retreat center, and a senior recreation center, all in the same department. The Recreation Supervisor oversees all aquatic operations at the Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center. The aquatic facilities include an indoor eight-lane lap pool, an indoor leisure pool featuring a lazy river, vortex, slides, and a toddler area, as well as two outdoor leisure pools equipped with play structures, slides, and rentable spaces. This position oversees four full-time staff and between 100-150 part-time employees who ensure a safe and enjoyable swimming environment while delivering programs such as water aerobics, swim lessons, and competitive swimming. This full-time position averages 40 hours per week, primarily scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with rotating evening and weekend shifts shared among four staff members to ensure facility coverage.
