Work assigned will primarily take place at busy recreational epicenters including Placid Lake State Park and Salmon Lake State Park. Other busy recreation locations of responsibility include Harpers Lake, Upsata Lake, and Clearwater Crossing Fishing Access Sites; as well as the recreation responsibilities on two Wildlife Management Areas. This is a .75FTE position, meaning a annual work schedule of nine-months working and three-months off; commonly refereed to as the "on-season" or "off-season", the incumbent and supervisor may modify or adjust the work schedule to benefit the employee so long as the resources and responsibilities are not neglected. This position will primarily be required to work Friday through Tuesday, normal days off will be Wednesday-Thursday. Other workdays might arise as needed, these additional workdays might include special events, holidays, or coverage during a coworkers absence. This position will require some travel and participation in meetings and professional training opportunities. Outdoor physical labor is required and will be frequent. Must be able to lift and move 40lbs. Incumbent must be able to work under adverse weather conditions and irregular hours. Must be able to navigate stairs, steep slopes, rocky terrain, forest & brush environments, both flat water and swift river water (including boats & docks); all while under possible inclement weather and uneven outdoor work environments. The incumbent must be in good overall physical condition to withstand the rigors and demands of outdoor work. Indoor office operations is also required and will be frequent. Must have proficient computer skills in all facets of researching, documentation and report preparations, filing and processing data collections, email and digital communications. Job Duties: This Recreation Ranger job purpose will be to assist the park manager in all supervisory operations, related to the responsibilities within the work area. The work performed will encompass broad administrative, operational, maintenance, educational, initial rule infraction enforcement, and public relations type activities. The Recreation Ranger will also be tasked with conducting routine rule compliance duties, within the scope of training, while providing operational support to other agency divisions including Enforcement, Maintenance, Wildlife, Fisheries and Administrative staff. The Recreation Ranger provides essential services and tasks as they arise, such as building and grounds maintenance, cleaning, recreational rule compliance, fee collection and remittance, interpretation and education, along with other various duties as needs arise and assigned. This Recreation Ranger position will work under the immediate supervision of the Region 2 Clearwater District Recreation Manager and will provide direction for other seasonal staff and volunteers. In the absence of said manager, this incumbent may be assigned acting Manger responsibilities. The incumbent will be adequately trained to perform all duties, including any specialized tasks, through our state and regional orientations, trainings, and on-site job reviews. The duties of this position will vary dependent upon time of year and conditions, but will generally be required to collect fees, conduce sales, operate ORMS (Online Reservation Management System), identify hazards and act on them accordingly, assist in park grounds upkeep and maintenance, clean latrines, clean and basic maintenance of comfort station, clean and maintain all individual campsites, routine, and regular grounds patrol to address noncompliance of food storage rules, and assist in other routine park responsibilities as needed.
