About The Position

The internship involves working on the Lincoln Ranger District's Developed Recreation crew. The crew is responsible for maintaining four rental cabins, two pay campgrounds, two non-pay campgrounds, and numerous trailheads and dispersed camping sites throughout the Helene-Lewis and Clark National Forest in Montana. Work duties include mowing and weed-eating, sign maintenance, and other facility maintenance. There should also be an opportunity to work with the trail crew or other resource areas.

Requirements

  • Valid State Driver's License
  • All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger.
  • Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Desire to be and work outdoors.
  • Hard skills: hand tool, shovel, power tool, carpentry experience
  • Soft skills: Comfortable interacting with strangers, informing visitors of rules, demonstrates strong self‑initiative and integrity, with a willingness to take on demanding, hands‑on work.
