About The Position

The Recreation Park Director will oversee the planning, coordination, and management of recreational facilities and programs to ensure a comprehensive and engaging experience for participants of all ages. This position requires a strong emphasis on facility management, ensuring that all recreation facilities are safe, well-maintained, and adequately equipped to meet the needs of the community. The Park Director will also work closely with community organizations and local government to enhance the recreational offerings and promote healthy lifestyles. Park Description: 2 soccer fields, 4 baseball fields, 2 sand volleyball courts, playground & exercise equipment, 2 dog parks, 4 miles of paved walking trails, designated butterfly & bird watching space.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, Facility Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in recreation management with experience in facility operations.
  • Strong knowledge of facility maintenance, safety regulations, and program management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and other presentation applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and with a team, and perform detail-oriented functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in CPR/First Aid and/or other relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Park and Recreation Professional - CPRP) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facility Management: Oversee the daily operations of recreational facilities, including maintenance, safety inspections, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee reservations/payment for facility use
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules for all recreational facilities and equipment.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Program Development: Design, promote, and implement a diverse range of recreational programs and activities that meet the interests and needs of the community.
  • Ensure programs are inclusive and accessible to all participants, including youth, adults, and individuals with disabilities.
  • Budgeting and Financial Management: Prepare and manage the recreation department’s budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for facility maintenance and programming needs.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and partnerships, to enhance recreation services.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders to support recreational initiatives and programs.
  • Conduct community needs assessments to gather feedback and adapt programs and facilities to serve the diverse population effectively.
  • Promotional Activities: Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote recreational programs and events, utilizing various platforms such as social media, community newsletters, and local events.
  • Organize special events and community activities that foster engagement and promote recreational opportunities.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Attend monthly board of directors meeting to report on sports complex/facilities
  • Attend/host monthly sub-committee meeting to report on sports complex/facilities
  • Collect data and analyze feedback to assess the effectiveness of programs and facilities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for the local government and community stakeholders regarding program success, facility utilization, and future needs.
