About the position

The Aquatics Intern will assist in the operation of the Bouws Pool Outdoor Aquatic Facility, focusing on programming, open swim, rentals, and general maintenance. This role is designed for students pursuing a degree in recreation or a related field, providing hands-on experience in aquatics management under general supervision.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and cleanliness at all facilities
• Oversee employees, including Supervisors, Desk Staff, and Lifeguards
• Attend and conduct management meetings as needed
• Attend Supervisor meetings
• Share ideas and techniques to improve the organization
• Help maintain appropriate water chemistry and pump room operation standards
• Handle disciplinary issues quickly and efficiently
• Perform maintenance inspections
• Assist with scheduling
• Assist with employee evaluations
• Communicate with pool patrons
• Conduct safety audits on staff and facilities
• Assist in conflict resolution with employees, patrons, and clients

Requirements

• Student pursuing a bachelor's degree or master's degree from an accredited college/university
• One year of experience directly related to the duties specified
• CPR Certified
• Current certification as Lifeguard by a recognized source of training
