About The Position

Under the direct supervision the Recreation Manager, this position is responsible for providing customer service to the public including, admitting the public into the facility in exchange for admission fees or a pass, selling concessions, explaining membership and class information, and performing other related functions as assigned or apparent. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and abilities required. Requirements

  • Knowledge of computers and electronic data processing.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to be friendly yet firm with the public.
  • Ability to demonstrate good public relations and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and organized records of memberships.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and quickly.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to listen, comprehend, and effectively communicate information both written and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community groups, commissions, elected officials, employees, and the public.
  • Must be at least 15 years of age.
  • At least one (1) year of work experience with a computer, including Microsoft Office.
  • Must satisfactorily pass a background examination.
  • Must comply with organizational and departmental policies.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies membership.
  • Completes registration of new members and participants for upcoming classes or events.
  • Uses cash register and facility software to keep record of area usage and to receive funds and record monetary transactions. Prepares shift end balance sheets and necessary forms for bank deposits.
  • Performs public relations duties. Explains membership fees, classes, and special events to the public.
  • Enforces facility rules and regulations.
  • Maintains office and concession areas in a clean and organized manner.
  • Answers telephone and takes messages.
  • Attends regularly scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
  • Effectively and respectfully communicates and interacts with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.
  • Performs the physical and mental demands of the position.
  • Performs other related functions as assigned or apparent to achieve the goals and objectives of the Recreation Department.
