About The Position

GYMNASTICS Under direct supervision, take a collaborative approach in developing our athletes in the gymnastics program and show a strong commitment to our participants and each other.

Requirements

  • Ability to stay actively engaged and assist with spotting of gymnastics skills.
  • Ability to evaluate conditions in assigned areas and make judgements related to safety. Understanding and observing participant behavior and monitoring exertion levels. Ability to keep accurate records, organize information, and follow established procedures.

  • Ability to tactfully and effectively communicate with participants, parents, & coordinators, with excellent customer service.
  • Ability to collaborate with coaching partners about lesson plan ideas. Work closely with coordinators and floor leads. Willingness to accept and provide feedback.
  • Knowledge and strong understanding of basic gymnastics with the ability to provide coaching feedback to participants while ensuring proper class management tactics.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of punctuality & consistency with the ability to commit to the agreed-upon schedule.
  • Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.
  • One to two (1-2) years of experience participating in or coaching in a formal gymnastics program or related experience.
  • Previous experience working with children and or teens.

Nice To Haves

  • Current USAG Professional Membership including up to date U110: SafeSport, U101: Safety & Risk Management, U112: Tough Coaching Course, and U100: Foundations of Gymnastics.
  • Prior or current USA Gymnastics (USAG) member, either as an athlete or professional member.
  • Current Red Cross or equivalent CPR & First Aid certification.
  • Have coached on the floor at a USAG Sanctioned competition.
  • Have attended USAG Regional Congress.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches more developmentally advanced gymnastics classes, including but not limited to, preschool, recreation, team prep, and team programs.
  • Teaches and spot higher level skills for our girls' and boys' teams.
  • Sets up equipment, maintain roll sheets, and communicate with parents.
  • Develops circuits and curriculum and have a leadership role with staff by sharing gymnastics knowledge.
  • Takes proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Tests and evaluates class participants for skills promotions
  • Enforces rules, regulations, and policies; maintains safety, order and discipline of participants, and/or customers.
  • Performs customer relations role which may include interacting with parents, participants, program partners, and/or city staff to provide information and solve problems.
  • Works as part of a team, attending training, orientation and/or staff meeting as needed
