About the position

This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Moose Run Golf Course on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. This is a Seasonal position Not-To-Exceed 31-OCT-2025. This position is Flexible, meaning you are guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Your schedule will depend on needs of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair and perform minor maintenance and repairs on recreational equipment such as push mowers, string trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, golf cars, utility vehicles, mowers, and other related items.
  • Perform repair work on a variety of equipment including gas powered rental golf cars, gang mowers, greens mowers, and other mechanical equipment utilized in the daily operation and maintenance of a golf course.
  • Perform minor engine repairs by cleaning, adjusting, and/or replacing defective parts, of components and systems including wheel cylinders, mufflers, brake shoes, carburetors, etc.
  • Perform minor electric or gas welding tasks as required.
  • Under indirect supervision, perform service on small engines, both gasoline and diesel powered.
  • Perform minor repairs on hydrostatic drive systems to include service, testing, and adjusting as required.
  • Determine requirements and order necessary parts, tools and other repair equipment through the Automotive Mechanic Supervisor (NS-10) and the Golf Course Superintendent.
  • Maintain maintenance records on all equipment to include man-hours, materials, preventive maintenance requirements and data of repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop using prescribed safety, fire and environmental regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift, handle and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to frequently stand, bend, stoop, crawl and work in tight spaces for long periods of time.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a Background Investigation Tier 1 Level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the proper application and use of diagnostic tools and equipment used for the tuning and analyzing of problems with small engines, hydraulic systems and electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot components and systems to locate equipment defects.
  • Ability to interpret and apply manufacturer's repair manuals and technical specifications.
