Recreation Direct Support Professional Job Summary As a member of the Recreation and Family Services Team, under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, assists and leads adaptive recreational and social activities for individuals 16 years and older in a program based on individual needs and interests. Hours of responsibility: Monday 3pm - 6pm Tuesday 3pm - 6pm Wednesday 3pm - 6pm Thursday 3pm - 6pm Friday 3pm - 6pm Saturday and/or Sundays 9am - 6pm Hourly rate of pay $19.00 - $23.00 based on experience.

Requirements

Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support individuals with disabilities.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to drive large passenger vans or willingness to be trained.
Maintain required certifications in CPR, first aid, infectious diseases and other classes (provided)
In programs requiring pre-employment drug testing , identified employees will undergo drug testing for marijuana , cocaine , opiates , amphetamines and phencyclidines (PCP ). These individuals will also be required to undergo testing upon reasonable suspicion of being under the influence and after any accident whenever consumers are on board at the time of the accident.
Post-accident testing for alcohol must occur within 8 hours of the accident and drug testing within 32 hours of the accident.

Responsibilities

Assist in supporting and supervising individuals' activities in the afternoons, Friday nights and Saturdays for adults and teens with disabilities.
Assist with weekly classes in arts and crafts, bowling, dance, games, music and sports, etc.
Weekly Friday night activities that may include large group activities such as Bingo, Dances, Karaoke, Movie Nights, Cookouts, etc.
Saturday trips such as museums, farms, Provide input for new activities and opportunities for special events.
Complete attendance for all activities.
Consistently utilizes positive behavior supports and ensures that all other staff does the same.
Transporting individuals to recreation activities in the community, businesses, and agency sites.
Operate and maintain transportation vehicles with a focus on safety and consumer courtesy.
Practice defensive driving
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
Keep assigned vehicles clean.
Fuel the vehicles, as assigned.
Maintain accurate, up to date records on trip sheets, consumer transportation forms, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested.
Read and interpret maps and driving directions to take the most efficient route and interpret road signs in English.
Responds immediately to accidents or medical emergencies by notifying emergency response providers and rendering First Aid and/or CPR until emergency personnel arrive.
Understand and adheres to Minute Man Arc's Vehicle Safety and Driving Record Evaluations Policy.
Assist individuals in and out of the vehicle ensuring that all required safety equipment is utilized in the process of transporting consumers. This will include, but may not be limited to, operating ramps, lifts, and utilizing securement devices, as needed.
