About The Position

Under general supervision from the Social Program Manager, helps plan, organize, monitor and assists with social program activities and events. Supervise program activities for participants of all age groups. This job class is treated as FLSA Non-Exempt. The Recreation Coordinator I differs from the Recreation Coordinator II, by providing more of a supportive role with program activities and events and is an entry-level position. This position is eligible for progression requiring familiarity with the program and leveraging professional working relationships.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year recreation related work experience including programming and coordinating structured and specialized recreational activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the culture, customs, traditions, history and government of the SRPMIC.
  • Experience with community outreach and promotional materials development.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with implementing social recreation programs for SRPMIC youth and adults.
  • Helps plan, organize and implement outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, and horseback riding.
  • Assists with coordinating activities for individuals/groups with adaptive special needs.
  • Implements activities for teen programs that emphasize cultural awareness and service learning.
  • Helps plan and develop the Community's Summer Day Camp opportunity for youth from grades K thru 12th.
  • Assists with coordinating monthly activities for Community Seniors and Adaptive Leisure participants.
  • Participates in community outreach efforts to promote social programs.
  • Helps maintain the SharePoint events calendar for planning and coordination of recreational programs.
  • Acts as mentor and 'go-to' for temporary and part-time staff.
  • Maintains currency with all required and necessary professional training.
