About The Position

Recreation Coordinator – Parks & Recreation Do you enjoy planning programs, leading activities, and engaging the community in recreational events? What You'll Do Assist the Recreation Supervisor or Manager in delivering recreational services, including planning, implementing, promoting, and evaluating programs and activities for the community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma plus two years of advanced education in recreation or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Knowledge of Parks & Recreation facilities and operations
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Professional appearance and ability to work well with staff and the public
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, reports, and safety instructions
  • Basic math and reasoning skills to calculate program costs, areas, and proportions
  • Valid Indiana Driver's License
  • Frequently sit, stand, walk, and use hands
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Requires close and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in supervision and recreational settings preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead recreational programs, festivals, and special events
  • Research, plan, and implement programs with budgets, equipment, and evaluations
  • Maintain attendance records and collect program fees
  • Provide excellent customer service and enforce park rules
  • Assist with marketing, promotion, and rental supervision
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, facilities, and general park appearance
  • Follow safety protocols and city policies
