The Recreation Bus Driver (Per Diem) is responsible for safely transporting nursing home residents to and from scheduled outings, and community events. This role supports the Recreation Department by ensuring residents have safe, comfortable, and enjoyable transportation experiences while maintaining compliance with all safety regulations and facility policies.
Requirements
- Valid CDL with P endorsement and clean record.
- Ability to safely assist residents with mobility needs
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible availability
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Responsibilities
- Safely operate facility bus/van to transport residents to recreational outings and special events
- Assist residents with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including use of wheelchair lifts and securement systems
- Ensure all passengers are properly secured before transport
- Follow all traffic laws and facility transportation policies
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the vehicle; report maintenance concerns promptly.
- Pre and post trip inspection of van
- Assure van is fueled using funds/reimbursement from employer
- Maintain accurate transportation logs and required documentation
- Communicate effectively with recreation staff regarding schedules and resident needs
- Provide courteous, compassionate interaction with residents at all times
