About The Position

As a Recreation Attendant II you are responsible to provide warm, engaging and authentically local personalized service to all guests who utilize the facilities at the Beach and Pool. You will actively engage with guests and assist in all guests’ needs, which may include, but are not limited to: issuing towels, issuing chaise lounge covers, assist in chaise lounge set-up, cabana set-up, distributing snorkel gear, surfboards, boogie board, floatation devices, kayaks, and provide instruction for proper usage of equipment. You will also pick up and remove used towels and debris from the beach and pool deck areas throughout the day, ensuring a positive first impression of the beach & pool for our guests through detailed cleanliness, set-up and ambiance control. Additionally, you will maintain complete knowledge of all wellness & recreation services, activities, amenities and hotel services/features, up-sell and promote wellness & recreation offers at every available opportunity in order to maximize sales revenue, and perform opening/closing side duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to share Hawaiian culture, stories and lifestyle with guests.
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous.
• Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in English.
• Ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages is an advantage.
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Detailed & service oriented with an eye for detail.
• Self-motivated and energetic.
• Provide the necessary State and Federal Requirements to work in Recreation (Tuberculosis Clearance).
• Valid Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

• Additional certification(s) in Recreation (Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, AED) will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage with guests and assist in all guests’ needs.

• Assist in chaise lounge and cabana set-up.
• Distribute snorkel gear, surfboards, boogie boards, floatation devices, and kayaks.
• Provide instruction for proper usage of equipment.
• Pick up and remove used towels and debris from the beach and pool deck areas.
• Ensure a positive first impression of the beach & pool through cleanliness and ambiance control.
• Maintain knowledge of all wellness & recreation services, activities, amenities and hotel services/features.
• Up-sell and promote wellness & recreation offers.
• Perform opening/closing side duties as assigned.
• Be well versed in hotel fire & life safety/emergency procedures.
• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene.
• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Management of the Hotel.
