About The Position

Avalon Health Care is hiring a Recreation Assistant for the E. Roy Stone, Jr. Veterans Pavilion, which will be operated by Avalon Health Care for the SC Department of Veterans Affairs starting July 1. The Recreation Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and implementation of recreational activities for residents of the Southern Utah Veterans Home. This role involves working under the direction of the Recreation Director to ensure all activities are safe, enjoyable, and appropriate for the residents.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with seniors or in a recreational setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, organizing, and implementation of recreational activities for residents
• Assist in the setup and cleanup of activity areas
• Assist in the transportation of residents to and from activities
• Assist in the supervision of residents during activities
• Assist in the maintenance of recreational equipment and supplies
• Assist in the documentation of resident participation in activities
• Assist in the development of new recreational programs and activities
