About The Position

The Recreation Assistant position is a temporary role focused on supporting the operation of adult and senior recreational programs at various centers in San Antonio. The assistant will engage with the public, assist in facility management, and lead recreational activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for participants.

Requirements

• Formal or informal education or training that ensures the ability to read and write at a necessary level for job performance.

Nice To Haves

• Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
• Experience implementing programming for adults and seniors.
• Experience in fitness, art, health, nutrition, and/or educational classes for adults and seniors.
• Experience distributing recreation equipment and tracking inventory.
• Experience using computer registration systems for participant registration.

Responsibilities

• Perform record keeping duties such as compiling attendance results for programs and events.
• Prepare rooms for programs and events, including setting up tables and chairs and putting out equipment and supplies.
• Direct visitors to the appropriate person, facility, or office based on their requests.
• Perform maintenance duties related to spectator areas, restrooms, and scorekeeper areas.
• Organize recreational programs for adult and senior participants.
• Lead activities such as after school programs and arts & crafts, involving physical interaction with attendees.
• Ensure equipment is in safe working condition and check for safety hazards before activities begin.
• Fulfill related duties and responsibilities as required.
