About The Position

The Recreation and Outreach Director at River Road Park and Recreation District is responsible for leading and managing comprehensive recreation programs for youth, adults, and seniors. This role includes overseeing the administration of the Recreation Department, managing personnel, budgeting, programming, and service delivery. The Director supervises various program supervisors and is tasked with planning and executing resource development and outreach initiatives, fostering community partnerships, and managing volunteer efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Administration, Gerontology, Volunteer Management, Donor Relations, Public Administration or related field.
• Three years+ experience managing personnel and supervising community recreation programs.
• Strong skills in oral and written communication.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and event planning.

• Experience in park and facility operations and development.
• Knowledge of community recreation programming.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage comprehensive recreation programs within the District.
• Oversee the administration of the Recreation Department, including personnel management, budgeting, and programming.
• Supervise the Youth Program Supervisor, Gymnastics Supervisor, Adult Program Supervisor, and Senior Programs Supervisor.
• Plan and execute the District's resource development and outreach initiatives.
• Manage sponsorships and foster community partnerships.
• Coordinate volunteer recruitment and placement in District programs and activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and personnel regulations.
• Respond to staff and public inquiries and concerns.
• Coordinate and implement special events.
