About The Position

Under the direction and supervision of the Recreation Supervisor or designee, the Recreation Aide will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of activities for participants tailored to the needs and limitations of frail elderly. Assist participants with non-skilled Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Provide one-on-one assistance, facilitate small group and large groups of participants’ activity programming and/or preparing for upcoming activities in both LIFE center and in the community (participants homes, outing, etc.). Assist with planning social, therapeutic and leisure programs. Assists in monitoring and reporting the health status and providing a safe environment for the participants of Inspira LIFE. As a multisite provider of PACE community-based services for seniors in Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties, an Inspira LIFE employee may work at either or both the Vineland or Williamstown LIFE Program as census changes or operational needs occur to meet the needs of our participants.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Active Driver's License and proof of insurance required.
• Knowledge of principles, practices, standards, and techniques of the provision of recreational activities.
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
• Knowledge of safety requirements when providing and implementing recreational activities.
• Knowledge of how to use and maintain materials and equipment of need to provide recreational activities.
• Ensures activity supplies that may cause harm are kept locked and out of participant reach.
• Skilled in establishing and maintain effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, medical staff and the public.
• Skilled in identifying and recommending problem resolution.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, in English clearly and effectively.
• Ability to work effectively with culturally, economically, and educationally diverse population.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Nice To Haves

• One years’ experience in a social or recreational program providing activities programming to the frail or elderly population preferred.
• MEPAP 1-Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals a plus but not required.
